Suvereto
Suvereto is an ancient Medieval village whose origins go back to the year one thousand AD. Suvereto combines the characteristics of a seaside resort and of a hilly region. The history of the village is very eventful. Until the XIVth century Suvereto belonged to the Aldobrandeschi family who gave the Carta libertatis in 1201. In 1300 it became part of the Republic of Pise and then, one century after, it was under the protection of the Appiani Family. During the Napoleonic period Suvereto, together with Piombino, was put in charge of Napoleon's sister Elisa Bonaparte Baciocchi, but in 1815 it was permanently assigned to the Reign of Tuscany.
