Campiglia Marittima
Campiglia is an old Medieval village which still preserve, within its walls, numerous historic elements. It is situated on the summit of a hill (280 metres of height above sea level) literally covered with dive-graves, and it dominates the whole Val di Cornia (5 km distant from Campiglia). In that plane there is Venturina, a sort of modern version of Campiglia, famous for its therapeutic thermal springs.
On the outskirts the Parco Archeo-minerario Rocca di San Silvestro, whose historical and cultural importance is enormous. The fortified village, whose remains are still admirable, was built in the Xth century under the rule of the Della Gherardesca family.
